The Face Behind GoalFitNation

Hi, I am Gilberto Ponce Ibarra. I was born in Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico on January 18th, 1992. I moved to Edmonton Canada in August 2012 mainly because I decided I wanted to have a university degree in business with international recognition so I could go back to my city and get a great and hopefully high-paying job at some point. I ended up staying here in Edmonton and get professional experience amongst other great job offers.

After some time working with different great companies in different areas, I decided to finally certify myself as a personal trainer and coach in nutrition with the Nationa Academy of Sports and Medicine (NASM), Canfitpro, and DTS fitness education. Since I was little, my family grew in me this active/sporty lifestyle and as I was moving forward from sport to sport I ended up trying different disciplines such as basketball, tennis, soccer, boxing, and other Martial Arts.

As previously mentioned I was always involved in different types of sports and now I find myself in a position where I have the opportunity to help other individuals and motivate them to achieve their fitness goals and overall well-being. After all this, it was becoming more and more obvious to officially translate it into a business and that’s where I decided to open up GoalFitNation. Being a personal trainer, coach, fitness coach, or whatever name you want to call it, it certainly gives me an amazing sense of achievement hearing from different friends and clients how well they feel once they start the process that we embark together towards those goals. That’s one of my missions when doing what I love the most hearing the different opinions and positive feedback from clients of how amazing they feel both mentally and physically and most importantly a sense of empowerment as well.

One thing that my slogan says at GoalFitNation is I am helping you to create the best version of yourself since it is a work that requires both parties to get actively involved. I would not see myself doing anything else that gives the satisfaction and happiness that this career provides me with. Furthermore, when you start your journey towards becoming a better athlete or someone who wants to be in better shape it requires you to get into a metamorphosis.

Someone really famous once said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”. On the other hand, I love having feedback on anything I do because that’s how you become better every time. Think about it, If you improve as little as 1% each day that is a 365% improvement in a year more or less because unless you are a robot you could work 24/7 but you get the idea. Having said that, I help individuals to develop those durable and sustainable habits that can translate into great results as well as on the other side of the spectrum which is mental. I feel that the most important thing is to have that desire to be better and really want to change whatever thing or things you are trying to modify in your life.

To sum it all up, I have a vision long term or maybe you could call it a dream of mine but I would love to have a level of recognition internationally at some point meaning that the work that it is being done locally is making an amazing impact on people’s lives but internationally speaking that is where I would love to go at some point. In addition to what it was previously said it would be great to open up different locations in America Latina under the same values that I grew up with loyalty, honesty, work ethic, and perseverance
